News from the UUA

The Board of Trustees of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Co-Moderators following the passing of our beloved Moderator Jim Key in June. We are delighted that Mr. Barb Greve and Elandria Williams have agreed to serve as Co-Moderators until a special election for Moderator can be held at the 2018 General Assembly. The Board intends that the new Co-Moderators shall function with the co-equal authority and duties of the Moderator position.

Mr. Barb Greve is a master-level credentialed religious educator and member of First Parish in Framingham, MA.
Elandria Williams currently serves on the UUA Board of Trustees and is a member of Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, TN.

UUA President Susan Frederick-Gray said, “I am excited to begin working with Barb and Elandria, our new Co-Moderators. The skills and experience they bring to their role leading our Board of Trustees will be invaluable in guiding the work of the Association at this crucial juncture for our Unitarian Universalist movement.”

The Board is profoundly grateful to Denise Rimes who served as our Moderator immediately following Jim Key’s resignation in May due to failing health. Denise will remain on the Board as a Trustee.

In accordance with UUA Bylaws, the delegates to the 2018 General Assembly will elect a Moderator to serve out the one year remaining in Jim Key’s six-year term. Delegates to the 2019 General Assembly will elect a new Moderator to a full six-year term.
