This Sunday, Rev. Helen Lutton Cohen, Minister Emerita, will preach about conversation: the conversation that is central to congregational life, a conversation among the minister and other staff members and the congregation, and the conversation between us as individuals and as a community with the larger world, including families and friends, neighbors and strangers, people around the earth (and animals, trees, the earth itself). “Conversation” meaning “a turn toward and with.” How do we carry on this conversation in the age of digital technology and the omnipresence of social media? This piece of the conversation has been sparked by many other people (and animals and trees).

Soprano Janet Simpson, horn player Erik Svenson, and guest pianist Sarah Hager will provide music for worship. Rip Jackson and the sanctuary choir will be making music at Follen Church with their choir and musical director. Janet will sing Eden Abez’s lovely “Nature Boy” and Loewe and Lerner’s popular “I’ve Grown Accustomed to his Face” (from My Fair Lady). Erik Svenson will play Johannes Brahms’s spirited “Scherzo” (from Serenade in D, Op 11) and Alexander Glazunov’s lyrical “Reveries, Op 24.” Sarah Hager will also play Claude Debussy’s ethereal “Arabesque No. 1.”

There will be Sunday school for grades Pre-K through eight. The nursery will be open for infants and toddlers.
