Part of the UU Urban Ministry based in Roxbury, Renewal House is a domestic violence shelter for individuals in crisis and their children. Since 1980, Renewal House has provided temporary emergency shelter and advocacy services to more than 1,000 individuals and families escaping domestic violence. Services offered include in-house support groups, Bilingual Spanish/English advocacy, English as a Learning Language (ELL) classes, health care advocacy, pastoral counseling, children’s programs, referrals for job training, legal assistance and educational programs, and community education.
At the annual Holiday Workshop, gift bags with toiletries and toys for kids are assembled for the homeless families. The Social Action Ministry supports the Renewal House.
