The Jewish tradition of offering blessings is a way to notice the holy in the midst of the ordinary.  Rachael Naomi Remen writes that offering a blessing is about our relationship to the spark of God in one another.  “Everyone in the world matters, and so do their blessings.  When we bless others, we offer them refuge from an indifferent world.”

This Sunday, the sanctuary choir will sing Maurice Duruflé’s deeply moving “Ubi Caritas” and John Rutter’s lovely choral piece “A Gaelic Blessing.” Youth soloist Sarah Beuttell will sing Stephen Schwartz’s powerful song “Colors of the Wind” (from Pocahontas). Pianist Deborah Yardly Beers will play her own composition, “Spoonful of Honey” (from In a Few Words) and Dianne Goolkasian Rahbee’s “Prelude, Op. 69” (“Twilight”). And for the postlude, Deborah will be joined by Rip Jackson in playing Johannes Brahms’ “Hungarian Dance No. 6” for four hand piano.

There will be Sunday school for grades Pre-K through eighth grade. The nursery will be open for infants and toddlers.
