Music Sunday

On Sunday, we will celebrate Music Sunday with readings, speakers from the children’s and sanctuary choirs, piano music, vocal selections and two very special virtual music videos. Our guest speakers are Amy Avalon, Adelle Cowen-Therieau, Liz Hartmann, Tim Jacoby, Ewan Jobling, Paul Koons, Meg Newhouse, Ruth Rose, Ben Soule, Toni Tasker and Cammy Thomas. For the anthem, the choir’s new virtual piece “I Believe” by Mark Miller (with soloist Elizabeth Walsh and video creator Chris Hess) will be debuted. Nate Ramsayer will sing Henry Purcell’s lovely air “If Music Be the Food of Love.” Elizabeth Walsh will sing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s joyful “A Cockeyed Optimist” (from South Pacific). Nate, Rip, Elizabeth and Mark Therieau (with video by Chris Hess) have also made a virtual video of “One Voice,” by The Wailin’ Jennys. Adelle Cowen-Therieau will read Rip Jackson’s original short story “Beatrice Goes to the Museum of Spiritual Music” (with beautiful illustrations and music excerpts from worship services and concerts at First Parish in Lexington). For the postlude, Rip Jackson will play Ludwig van Beethoven’s thrilling 3rd movement “Rondo” (from the Pathétique Sonata, Op. 13).

Be sure to stay for our virtual coffee hour, when you will be able to talk in small virtual groups in our zoom worship space.

There are three ways to enjoy worship this Sunday:

1. You can call in from any landline or mobile phone and listen to worship over the phone.

2. You can watch worship through our live video stream on YouTube.
