VOICES ON THE GREEN: MARK YOUR CALENDAR, MAY 10, 7 P.M.: “My Best Mistake”

The philosopher Daniel Dennett says: “The chief trick to making good mistakes is not to hide them—especially not from yourself.”

On Friday, May 10, the First Parish program series, Voices on the Green, takes on the unavoidable human experience of making mistakes. Should we be adventurous, take chances, put forth ideas that are not yet “proven,” because in the creative process, even through and sometimes because of mistakes, we can arrive at new truths and understandings? or should we do everything we can to avoid mistakes because they can ruin everything, and, besides, people will judge us as stupid and incompetent?

Doors open at 6:30 for refreshment and conversation. The program begins in the sanctuary at 7:00, and refreshments are served again at intermission. The evening ends at 9:00. The program includes short TED-type talks, personal stories, and music on the theme. This particular Voices will gather people of all ages in the sanctuary, and the music will feature the First Parish children’s choir, led by Rip Jackson, singing choral and solo music from Broadway to the Beatles including the song “A Million Dreams” from the “Greatest Showman.”

Tickets are $5 child/youth, $10 general, $20 Donor seating and can be purchased online at voicesonthegreen.brownpaperticket.com on Sunday mornings during social hour, or at the church office.

The VOG committee will be grateful to all those who can bring refreshments (please contact Ruth Rose at <Ruth_Rose67@hotmail.com>, and to those who can serve as ushers (please contact Deb Lapides at <deblapides@gmail.com>.

Thank you!
