“Beauty of Imperfection”

Leonard Cohen sings these wise words:
“Ring the bells that still can ring. Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.”
We all have cracks. Physical, emotional, social, economic – we are not perfect. We don’t strive for perfection. We strive for wholeness, to be of use, to connect with community. Preaching today is Rev. Anne Mason.
This Sunday guest singers Allison Flanagan and Tim Jacoby will join Rip Jackson in providing inspirational music for the theme of “Beauty in Imperfection.” Allison will sing Jason Howland’s lyrical “Here Alone” (from Little Women). Tim will sing Leonard Bernstein’s spiritually-centering “Simple Song” (from Mass). And Rip will sing Peter Meyer’s gentle song “Japanese Bowls.” For the centering music and postlude, Rip will play Bach’s thrilling “Chromatic Fantasy in d minor, BWV 903” and Louis Couperin’s lush “Prélude in C Major” (from the Bauyn Manuscript) on his French double-manual harpsichord.
There will be Sunday school classes for grades Pre-K through eight. The nursery will be open for infants and toddlers.
