What is the Annual Stewardship Campaign?

Every year First Parish members and friends make a commitment to the church to donate a certain amount of money to First Parish for the upcoming church year (July 2026-Jun 2027). 

Do I have to be a member of First Parish to pledge? 

No. We receive pledges from many non-members.  

How much should I pledge?

The amount you pledge of course depends on your household’s financial situation. Please use this chart as a guide toward how much to pledge: 

Last year 50% of pledges received were over $2,400, 20% were over $5,000, and the total amount raised was $503,000. Our goal for this year’s campaign is $520,000. 

How do I pledge?

Where does the pledge money go? 

Achieving our vision requires that we pay our professional staff, maintain our historic building, and offer a wide variety of programs and services. The Annual Stewardship Campaign brings in about two-thirds of the funds that provide worship and music on Sundays, pastoral care throughout the year, children and adult religious education programming, social justice initiatives, and community outreach. 

Why should I pledge if I can already give through the offering plate?

Contributions in the offering plate are of course welcome, but pledges are necessary so we can estimate our income and develop a budget for the upcoming church year.

When do I fulfill my pledge?

Pledges can be paid anytime up until the end of the 2026-2027 church year (June 30, 2027).   

How do I fulfill my pledge?

There are a variety of options for fulfilling your pledge. The most common way is via one or more checks mailed to or dropped off at the church. You can also fulfill your pledge via a stock donation or automatic transfers from your bank. Contact the First Parish Treasurer at treasurer@fplex.org for instructions on how to do this. If you wish to pay via Square on the church website, please add 3.5% to your payments to cover Square charges.
