The Jewish celebration of High Holy Days offers us all an opportunity for new beginnings. Our world is far from perfect, and so are we. Let us come together in humble worship to recognize our failings, forgive ourselves and each other,  and strive to begin this year as we hope to end it – in Love.

The sanctuary choir with soloists Julia Jaffe and David Meharry will sing the beautiful anthem “If We Only Have Love” (from Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris). They will also sing Jonathan Larsen’s inspiring song “Seasons of Love” (from Rent) with soloists Austin Burns and Allison Flanagan and percussionist Jordan O’Hare Gibson. Guest soloist Jake Chila will sing Claude-Michel Schönberg’s poignant song “Empty Chairs” (from Les Misérables). And for the centering music and postlude, Rip Jackson will play on the organ Felix Mendelssohn’s lovely “Praeludium in G Major, Op. 37, No. 2” and Fred Binckes’ lively “Fanfare for a King.
