“Flower Power”
Jun 9, 2019
10:30 am - 11:30 am
First Parish in Lexington
Join us for a celebration of our First Parish community, when we will recognize our wonderful volunteers, and participate in our annual Flower Ceremony. This is a traditional ritual enjoyed by Unitarian Universalists across the country. Please bring a flower to add to our communal bouquet, and you will go home with the gift of someone else’s flower.
This Sunday the First Parish Children’s Choir will sing the energetic Zulu song “Sizohamba Naye.” They will be joined by the Sanctuary Choir, with soloists Chelsea Cannon and Ewan Jobling and horn player Erik Svenson, in singing Rip Jackson’s arrangement of the inspiring song “You Raise me Up.” The Sanctuary Choir will also sing Charles V. Stanford’s ethereal a cappella anthem “The Blue Bird.” For the centering music and postlude, organist Rip Jackson will play J. S. Bach’s passionate “Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele, BWV 654” and his powerful “Toccata” (from “Dorian” Toccata and Fugue in d minor, BWV 538).
This is an All Ages Celebration. The nursery will be open for infants and toddlers.
