First Parish in Lexington

Rev. Anne will share some of what she learned from attending the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Toronto. The theme this year is “The promise of inclusion, the power of love.”  Religious leaders from across the globe will speak on our need for interfaith connection and inclusion, which can only be realized by people who seek change based on love’s incarnation in life itself.

This Sunday, guest pianist Sarah Hager and our Soprano soloist Elizabeth Walsh will provide beautiful music for worship. Elizabeth will sing Malvina Reynolds poignant “God Bless the Grass” and Bob Merill’s lovely “Love Makes the World Go ‘Round.” Sarah will play 3 piano pieces evoking world music in support of the theme of “reflections on world religions.” For the centering music, she will play a lyrical Chinese song “Gan Lan Shu” (olive tree) by San Mao & Li Taixiang. For the offertory, Sarah will play Larry Shackley’s arrangement of the traditional Irish tune “Be Thou My Vision.” And for the postlude, she will play Anne Britt’s energetic arrangement of the African folk song “Kumbaya.”

There will be Sunday school classes for grades Pre-K through eight. The nursery will be open for infants and toddlers.
