There are as many ways to think about our theme of ‘Expectation’ as there are ways to anticipate our future.  As we begin our church year together, what expectations do you bring, and how will that shape the year ahead? In the Gospel of Thomas,  Jesus said, “Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished.”

This Sunday, the sanctuary choir will sing Z. Randall Stroope’s lyrical and poignant “Dance for Love” and John Leavitt’s joyful “Festival Sanctus.” Our new tenor soloist, Nate Ramsayer, will sing Felix Mendelssohn’s expressive “If With All Your Hearts” (from Elijah). For the centering music and postlude, Rip Jackson will play on the Hutchins Pipe organ Felix Mendelssohn’s serene “Praeludium in G Major” and Johann Sebastian Bach’s first movement from his thrilling setting of Vivaldi’s “Concerto in F Major” (from L’Estro Armonico).
