And No One Shall Make Them Afraid

This week we are going to be talking about how we pass our values along to our children. Given all of the scary things happening in our world, such as the recent violence in Istanbul and Orlando, it can be easy to feel hopeless and scared and not know how to make sense of these things ourselves, much less how to pass our values on to our children. How do we teach moral lessons to our children and loved ones about a world that can be so scary and cruel? And where do we find hope and love amidst all of the struggle? This week we’ll be talking about this and looking at the lessons we can learn about this process from different sacred texts, including the Hebrew Bible and the Star Wars movies.

Music this week will be provided by Yukiko Sekino. A soloist noted for her performances of Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, and Scriabin, Yuki frequently collaborates in chamber music and performs some of the most challenging twentieth and twenty-first century works. She is a graduate of Harvard University and the Juilliard School, and currently teaches piano at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the New England Conservatory Prep School.
